New chapter on Nematostella highlights why it is such an awesome model system!
In order to maintain productivity during the 2019 lockdown we wrote a chapter called "Nematostella vectensis as a model system" as part of a book titled Handbook of Marine Model Organisms in Experimental Biology. This chapter encompasses the history of the model, its geography and habitat, anatomy, lift history, embryogenesis, genomic data, methods and functional approaches, and challenging questions. We hope that it can serve as a primer for people starting out in the Nematostella field, as well as a refresher or quick reference for those already familiar with Nematostella.
Check out the beautiful hand-drawn images by Layla! They make awesome introductory figures for talks.
